It is predicted that AI will eliminate 85 million jobs by 2025 (according to the World Economic Forum) and create nearly 97 million jobs (according to Built In). The current market reality can be described as a VUCA world, characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Employees are facing enormous changes that will significantly impact their career development and, in some cases, their ability to maintain their current positions.
In my book, I encourage readers to closely follow the technological developments affecting their professional roles and to plan their career steps to constantly adapt to the changing rules of the game. Utilizing my knowledge, many years of professional experience, industry literature, and market observations, I propose specific tools that can help in effective career management. I also describe in detail the process of job change, career change, and efficient functioning in a new position. The book also addresses the issue of job loss and how to effectively cope with this situation.
I personally believe that proper planning, evaluation, and self-shaping of one's career, supported by ongoing market monitoring, will enable effective navigation in the new market reality. The inspiration for writing this book came from the words of Richard Knowdell, a long-time career coach, who metaphorically describes the contemporary reality: 'Until the 1960s, a career was like a train journey following pre-laid tracks to the final station, retirement. In the 1970s and 1980s, a career resembled a bus ride, requiring more independence due to the possibility of changing routes. Nowadays, a career path resembles off-road driving, requiring independent vehicle operation, goal-setting, direction planning, vehicle maintenance, and handling unexpected turns or adverse weather conditions. This journey requires careful observation of reality, the ability to predict, and readiness to modify the route. My book is available in Polish.
